 „Medical Wellness contains health economical, derived actions for strongly improvement of quality of life and subjective health sensation by self dependent prevention and health advancement as well as the motivation of a health conscious life !"
This definition has been the conclusion of the most important associations of branche on the Medical Wellness Congress 2007 in berlin. It is carried by inter alia the German Tourism Association (DTV), the German Medical Wellness Association (DMWV), the German Spa Association (DHV) and the German Gymnastic Association (DTB).

Therefore a confusing market for health care service and products with different wellness offers for pure recovery to prevention arrangement has been developed. According to this there is an unclear contour of services and products, which decreases the quality.

The inflationary use of the word Wellness for all the different industries and products harmed the credibility of the concept.
Offers of the consumer goods branche, from wellness minerals to wellness socks, perished the original meaning of wellness.
Wellness was and is still a big part of prevention.
Needs associated with „wellness" belong especially to the tourism sector. On the other hand is „Medical Wellness" adverted to parts of touristic alignments with special demands in quality.

Basically „Medical Wellness" defines a connection of touristic and medical therapeutic "wellness"offers. Therefore is it about the medical services as basic or as addition to wellness offers, which are performed on a serious base.
So the notion seperates services and products which define theirselves only in the aspect of wellness and tourism without a medical factor. (Definition German Wellness Association)

The European Health Centre for Natural Remedies (EHCNR) emphasises also on the prevention empowering of the classic natural therapy in medical wellness arrangements.
The EGHN defines medical wellness as follows:

• "Medical Wellness" contains medically supervised arrangements for integrated advancement of health and individual well being
• "Medical Wellness" contains the completion of medically reasonable wellness offers with established practices of medical preventive care and acknowledged nature therapies which serve the motavation for a self dependent and health-conscious way of life
• "Medical Wellness" conforms primarly to health-conscious and active users (self-payer) and is not a part of necessary health precaution
• "Medical Wellness" is only offered in specialised and qualified companies, health care centres and hotels
